2nd helicopter joins the collection

We're pleased to confirm that the Chinook fuselage was delivered to the museum today - Thursday 22nd February 2018.

The helicopter fuselage in question is BV Chinook HC.1 ZA717, which has most recently been used as a Loadmaster training aid at nearby RAF Cranwell, Lincs.

As with the Puma helicopter that was acquired recently the airframe is currently incomplete, but again it represents a valuable starting point for what the museum plans will become an interactive education resource for visiting groups of school children, Scouts, Cubs and Beavers.

Again, as with the Puma, Chinooks have visited our Southfield Site and they have always been quite popular at the museum, both with our visitors, museum members and staff. Further updates will appear in due course and we are still fundraising to cover the cost of the move - details elsewhere on the News Page.
