If you decide to become a museum member you will be allocated a membership card, which entitles you and those members of your family living at the same address to a variety of benefits this includes:

• Unlimited FREE visits to the Museum whenever it is open to the public
• Discounted prices on books and models purchased in the Museum Shop
• Receive a copy of the Museum’s Dispersal newsletter, which is distributed every February, May, August and November

Membership will also enable you to help with work around the Museum site, you do not have to have an aviation trade or skill but with suitable training you can learn how to work on the aircraft and exhibits. New members who wish to help in this way are asked to contact the Museum to organise to meet with someone from the restoration team.

We are currently trying to recruit additional volunteers to the various active projects that are already being undertaken successfully by our skilled volunteers. Not only will this help to increase the pace of the work but it will hopefully widen the pool of volunteers trained to work on the aircraft and exhibits. To help maintain the high quality of work that has become a museum standard we can now offer training in a range of aviation skills through the National Aviation Heritage Skills Initiative [NAHSI]. Not only does this teach you valuable new skills in aircraft restoration it also enables you to achieve a vocational qualification to add to your own CV. Several volunteers have already completed a number of NAHSI courses and full details can be found by following the link to their website on the Associates page.

In addition to the aircraft work there are several other skills that we are currently looking for from amongst our volunteers. This ranges from aircraft washing and cockpit opening, through to general DIY skills – especially woodworking and general maintenance. So please think about getting more involved at the museum by becoming a member and perhaps volunteering to start working at the museum. It’s simple to do, down load the application form by clicking on the photograph in the top right column and return the completed form along with your fee to the museum as detailed on the form. Don’t forget to complete the GIFT AID part of the form as this helps us to generate additional funding from the government by claiming tax back. If you receive too many benefits in the Museum Shop we will not claim Gift Aid on your membership fee.
