Thank you everyone
Canberra Saturday 2019
Many thanks to those former Canberra personnel that visited the museum for the reunion gathering today; those thanks also go out to the people and groups for providing a host of visiting displays; to the museum volunteers for opening up the aircraft; car parking operations; the museum organisers; our visitors; and last but by no means least the museum staff (and volunteers) for their sterling hard work in the café, museum shop and site cleaning/tidying and car parking.
As anticipated from the pre-event bookings (plus those who turned up on the day), around thirty-five (35) former Canberra personnel attended the event today. Many Canberra Squadrons, bases and aircraft types were represented at the reunion, whilst in the museum’s display hangar 2 hosted a wealth of visiting displays.
As ever the museum’s own Canberra 'veterans', the aircraft and cockpits, proved to be a highlight for the visitors; as were many other of our aircraft cockpits; and of course let's not forget an evocative Spitfire & Hurricane flypast by the BBMF early in the afternoon - superb!
Following discussions in the run up to today, we have now taken the decision that we will be hosting a new event in May 2020 called Cold War Call Up 20, which will feature all of our Cold War related aircraft and visiting displays. This event will take place over two days in mid-May 2020 (likely to be 16th & 17th May, 2020 - subject to confirmation) and on the Saturday it will feature a V-Force reunion, which will be in a slightly different format to previous years!
