Museum Coronavirus Updates

27.04.20 Update - Thank you to HMRC Business Help & Support Department and staff for making the bank payment to us for wages for furloughed employees are now being paid through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. Also a big thank you to the accounts and payroll team at Barker Maule & Co for your ongoing support and assistance in these complex matters.

14.04.20 Update
 - Thank you to the staff at the Royal Mail sorting office in Newark who have been really understanding and helped us to resolve our postal issues. We now have accessed our back mail; so it's another big thank you to everyone who has sent in their membership renewals and also to those who have sent through donations. Your support is really appreciated and we will be trying to process everything in the coming days.

08.04.20 Update
 - Thank you to those people who sent through donations via our Just Giving page the funds have now been transferred through to the museum's bank account, which is helping to give us time to re-group during this lockdown.

Yesterday we also postponed Cockpit-Fest & Aeroboot that was
scheduled for June - full details elsewhere on the website.

29.03.20 Update - A big thank you to those who have already made donations via our Just Giving page, it is really appreciated and a special thanks for all of the kind messages at this challenging time, Try to stay healthy everyone & we look forward to seeing you all at the museum as soon as possible!

As a volunteer managed registered charity we rely on public admission fees, shop sales etc. to fund our operation and we will be ever reliant on the generosity of our visitors, volunteers and staff in these unprecedented and challenging times.

We have now been closed for around sixty (60) days and people associated with the museum have come to terms with the expectations of lock-down and not being able to access the museum’s Gateway Aviation Site in eastern Nottinghamshire.

We still have an ad hoc supervision process in place whereby when appropriate we check alarms, monitor the waste treatment plant etc.

The main museum email accounts are being monitored remotely by volunteers; but whilst the answerphone is in operation it is not being monitored or messages responded to; sorry about that.

We have managed to dispatch the Dispersal newsletter to all of the museum members, which we know are now starting to arrive. We are also part way through arranging for our staff to go onto “furloughed” status. This means that rather than making them redundant or laying them off; under this scheme, employees will continue to receive up to 80% of their normal wage. Once again thanks to AIM for the letter templates etc.

As mentioned elsewhere we have now opted to CANCEL two events that we had planned and postponed another

At the moment we are still working on preparations for the Autumn 1940s Weekend later on in the year. We will be monitoring the situation during the coming weeks to see whether or not these will proceed.

We will continue to make checks to see whether or not we qualify for government grants; exploring other funding streams and working out how we can come out of this crisis invigorated and stronger than before.
