Eurofighter Typhoon DA4, ZH590 - Update 02.12.19

Updated 02.12.19

We have now opened a Just Giving page for donations towards the cost of hiring a temporary structure to house the rebuild of DA4; please follow THIS LINK TO THE PAGE

We thought it might be worthwhile posting a short update about the progress with regards to Eurofighter Typhoon DA4 (ZH590) being transferred to the museum.

Yesterday (27th November) a team from the museum travelled to Duxford to discuss the next phase of the project to dismantle and move ZH590. Draft schedules were agreed and the final move is likely to take place in the New Year. Some initial work is also due to take place at Duxford during the week commencing 2nd December, which will involve volunteers from the museum starting to remove access panels around the structural joints.

On the Southfield Site work will soon start on adding a new section of hardstanding area onto the Southfield Site; planning permission for this was secured when the construction of the new museum café was approved in 2017.

Budget costings have been obtained for erecting a temporary structure over this hardstanding area to provide a dry area for rebuilding Eurofighter DA4, ZH590 when it arrives at Winthorpe. We may launch a small fund raising campaign to help cover the cost of this structure and details will be announced in due course.

One way that everyone can assist with our fund raising efforts is by just visiting the museum in the coming weeks; doing the Gift Aid admission and also making purchases in the Museum Shop.

Further updates will follow as and when we know any additional details.
