Vulcan Story

In recent weeks we have been trying to fix-up some further half-day events that will again allow aviation enthusiasts some special access to Avro Vulcan XM594 that is displayed at the museum.

Based around the experience gained on similar 2015 events, the event details have now been finalised and we are pleased to announce that the next two Vulcan Story events will be held on Saturday 20th August 2016.

Once again there will be morning and afternoon sessions, with each session being limited to 24 people. Each session will comprise of the following elements:

  • Welcome tea / coffee & biscuits on arrival at the museum
  • Talk in the Dambusters Hut by former Vulcan Ground Crew
  • Groups of 4 people will then be allocated a cockpit tour of XM594, which will include access to sit in the pilot & co-pilot seats – each group will be allowed 15 minutes in the cockpit
  • Guided external tour of the aircraft by a former Vulcan Ground Crew member
  • Airframe access to other museum training aircraft, which had Vulcan aircrew training roles (airframes to be confirmed, but likely to be Hastings, Varsity, Dominie & Jetstream)
  • Photo opportunities throughout each session
  • Free access to the remainder of the museum site during the day
  • Start times: morning session 10am and afternoon session 1.30pm (arrival 30 minutes before to book in)

The Vulcan Story sessions are only available on a pre-booked basis for a fee of £20 per person and for these sessions participants have to be aged 16 and over.

Bookings now being taken but please remember there are only 24 spaces per session.

Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis, depending on the date on which booking forms are received, please send an email by clicking this link to request a Booking Form, which we will email back to you, or telephone 01636 707170 and we will post one off to you.

N.B. During each Vulcan Story session the museum will be open as normal, but the Vulcan will not be open on that day to normal museum visitors.
