No Drone Policy

We have been made aware of some online / YouTube footage that has been filmed and uploaded, in relation to our clearly stated Policy of NOT allowing drones to be operated from our privately owned site. As referenced on the FAQs page of the air museum website.

The Policy has been established in conjunction with our Insurance Company; our neighbours; and the Armed Forces, the western part of our site is a MoD registered Helicopter Landing Site – as detailed in the photograph at the start of this article.

By posting such footage, or making abusive comments to our members of staff and volunteers, whether in person, or over the telephone will not make us change this Policy. Such behaviour is tantamount to attempted blackmail and we do not feel that it is appropriate behaviour.

Please have the courtesy to respect the decision that has been made by the trustees of this registered charity.

Footnotes:

1. A site evaluation was carried out by the Joint Helicopter Support Squadron in spring 2021; the western end of our Southfield Site is listed in the No.1 AIDU Flight Information Publication - UK Helicopter Landing Sites. As such it is available for military helicopter training activity.

2. The listing is still current and we have a provisional booking for a Chinook landing week commencing 9th February 2026.
