Remembrance Service – 09.11.25 Thank You
We would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who attended the museum’s annual Remembrance Sunday Service on Sunday 9th November at the RAF Winthorpe Memorial in our Memorial Garden, on a slightly overcast autumn afternoon.
The service commemorated all of the service personnel who are remembered on the various memorials and tributes in the RAF Winthorpe Memorial Garden and around the wider museum site.
As has become a proud tradition the service was led by the Reverend Alan Boyd. We are grateful to the various local civic dignitaries who attended to lay wreathes; plus, the representatives of various local service organisations, some of whom helped with organising the event.
There was a wonderful turn out of veterans, museum members and various families associated with the commemoration. We are grateful to the Air Training Corps Cadets from 1237 (North Hykeham) Squadron RAFAC and 1260 Squadron Newark & District RAFAC, who joined the parade this year – you are all a great credit to the ATC.
Our flags were being flown at half-mast as a mark of respect to former museum volunteer, Sqn Ldr John LeBrun AFC who sadly passed away on Friday 7th November. John was a former Vulcan CFI who had tremendous knowledge of flying the Vulcan. Blue skies John from everyone at the museum.
Finally, a special thank you goes out to Nigel Bean and his wife Jude, for their dedication and hard work in getting the Remembrance Garden looking in great shape for the Service; and to our Groundskeeper, Wayne Berriman for his work around the wider site.
