Canberra PR.7 Update
Issued on 11.04.25

Work is now underway to reduce the condemned Canberra PR.7 down to manageable sized sections for their eventual removal from site. Full details about how we got here, are outlined elsewhere on the website.
Why? The extensive corrosion on the airframe is well beyond our on-site repair capabilities.
Canberra WH791 has been offered for disposal and despite evaluations by some interested parties, over a 2-year period; no firm offers were received to take on the challenging task of trying to save the aircraft.
Various requested items have been removed from the airframe and will pass to other Canberra airframes, and, or cockpit owners to help with those individual projects. Currently there is no formal timeframe for this work to be completed.
Why in the current location? The airframe is not safe to move around the site & needs to be broken into smaller sections in situ.
Why now? We could not do this work in the winter as the ground was too wet and soft.
Once the remains of WH791 have been removed from the museum site, the grassed area will be assessed and re-stabilised as required.
After this process has been completed, it is planned that our restored Harvard II B aircraft, FE930 will be moved out & on to display.
